Napoleon at Little Gibraltar

My article in Wargames Soldiers and Strategy magazine #134 on Toulon 1793, based on one of the ten scenarios in my book Throwing Thunderbolts, has just reached my letterbox. The article focuses on the Assault of Fort Mulgrave ( Little Gibraltar) itself, so is more suited to 28mm games on a 6×4 table than the scenario in the book which looks at the whole of the Caire Peninsula. The French called Fort Mulgrave Little Gibraltar despite it being made of earth and timber logs, rather than Ridley Scott’s stone bastion. As a footnote although the article is accompanied by excellent photography, the assault actually took place in the darkness of the early hours. Here is the full draft of the article complete with my edits that didn’t make it into the published article ;

This is not what the assault on Fort Mulgrave looked like
